Overnight Oats Breakfast Recipe

I first learned about Overnight Oats about 2 years ago on Pinterest. The first time I made it, I wasn’t overly impressed. The fruit was chunky and oats tasted a little bland. Over time, I’ve tweaked the recipe and made it my own – one that I find so delicious I can’t resist. So instead of keeping this amazing recipe a secret, I’ve decided to share it with anyone looking to spice up their morning with an easy, healthy and tasty breakfast choice.

The reason I love overnight oats is that you can make it the night before, and as soon as you wake up in the morning it’s ready to eat. All the work is done as the oats soak up the ingredients overnight (hence the name). I actually go to bed every night looking forward to breakfast.

Most overnight oats recipes you might find will have you just throw some fruit in, pour in almond milk and stir it around. Mine is different from most others in that I use a blender to mix the ingredients. This helps to create a smooth texture and consistent taste for the oats to soak up overnight.

For fruit, I use a ripe banana (small-medium size),  ~15 frozen blueberries and a couple pieces of frozen acai mix. You can get it all at any grocery store but I prefer mine from Trader Joe’s. I toss them all in my Nutribullet (single serve size cup).

Once the fruit is in, I pour the almond milk until I hit the “max” line. This is usually the perfect amount of liquid for it.

Then, I toss a tablespoon of dark cacao powder, a pinch of cacao nibs, a bit of honey, and tablespoon of almond butter.

After everything is in (except the oats), I blend it all together until it’s smooth and creamy. It should be slightly more “liquidy” than a smoothie. Pour the mixture into a Mason jar or tupperware and then mix in about 1 cup of rolled oats. I typically eye it out, but I use about 7 tablespoon size scoops of oats.

Once it’s all mixed together nicely, put the lid on, and go to sleep. In the morning, you’ll wake up and a delicious breakfast will be waiting for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!


  • Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Pinch of Roasted Cacao Nibs
  • 1.5 tbsp. 100% Cacao Powder (Special Dark is my favorite)
  • 1 tbsp. Almond Butter
  • 1/6 of Frozen Acai Puree
  • 15 Blueberries
  • 1 ripe Banana
  • 1 tsp. Honey
